A Word About Pricing

We often get inquiries from campaigns, advocacy groups, and issued-based organizations who have not previously used our services, and thus are not familiar with the market. If you fit that description, the following summary might be useful.

Roughly speaking, there are three levels of website design and development pricing:

Low Price - At this low priced level, you'll get offers like no money upfront, designs in 24 hours, unlimited revisions, etc. These might be college students who are trying to build their portfolios, or maybe just some person with a computer. The quality ranges from excellent to awful (most fall in the low curb arena), but if you're on an extremely limited budget and time is not an issue, it might be worth the gamble.

Mid-Range Price - Here you get experienced freelancers and boutiques like WebPolitechs. Designers and developers in this category are usually veterans of big agencies and campaigns, so one major advantage is that you get experience without paying the big agency price. You also get the advantage of communicating directly to the creative team working on your project, instead of going through the layers of bureaucracy typical of larger firms.

High Price - This higher priced tier consists of advertising agencies and prestigious design studios which deal with big-budget national/state campaigns. With a large firm, you'll be assigned an Account Executive who serves as your liaison to the design/development department. The agency might also have separate departments for marketing research, media buying, broadcast production, etc. Their cost is very high and the output may very well be no better than a boutique.

All three pricing levels have their merits. It's all about finding which is the right fit for your campaign and/or project.

How much do you charge to design and develop a campaign site?

Our rates are based on the size of race. A race for a small city council seat will cost less than a state assembly site. In that way, we can keep it affordable.

Which is the right software for building a campaign website (Joomla or Wordpress)?

For a campaign, there are very important reasons why someone might choose one CMS over another; Joomla or Wordpress.

While both of these projects have evolved greatly over the last few years, they are vastly different. Joomla! has always been intended as a ‘fit-all-your-possible-needs’-kind of CMS solution, while WordPress was developed as a blog with CMS capabilities.

Wordpress is an excellent system to use when creating a website that lets you quickly get your thoughts out on the web, and is often used as a blog.

Designers will choose Joomla because of the amazing capabilities that its engine has in making websites look fantastic.

We've had experience using both, and know the ins and outs of actually using the systems.

For campaign websites, Joomla wins (hands down)...

If you must have a blog-site, then use both (Joomla and Wordpress)... In that way you are maximizing the benefits of each architecture the way they were designed to be used.

Should we also create a blog website?

To put this quite simply, we are not giving you statistics based on research... We're giving you information from first-hand experience.

True, everyone these days seem to be breaking out their laptops and logging into their blogs or connecting to social networking sites, and there are thousands of well branded sites to choose from.

For 98% of the campaign websites, the premise to the 'field of dreams' analogy ('build it and they will come') does not work.

Why? Because visitors to campaign websites want to learn about a candidate and their position on the issues, not blog; It's an expectation thing.

Case in point, a well know Progressive Democrat running for Congress never had one publishable comment to their campaign website blog.

We believe that the best ROI for a campaign is to blog elsewhere (on existing branded blogs sites with built-in traffic) and drive people to your site. That affords you the maximum exposure to building you brand.

Afterall, that's what Facebook and Twitter accomplish, driving traffic.

I have a need to blast out emails. I presume you can do this; is there an additional fee?

ALL of the websites we develop incorporate the functionality for email newsletter sign-ups.

It also enables subscribers to remove themselves from the list (unsubscribe) as required by law. The software we provide enables you to send out thousands of emails as often as you wish and is completely integrated within the site. You can also import any lists that may exist.

While there is no additional fee for you or someone on your campaign to send out blasts. However, some campaign contract with us to do it for them.

I am considering NGP. What can you tell me?

NGP's exertise is providing campaigns with a good set of tools to manage the back-end tasks; our expertise is online branding and campaign websites.

If you are considering NGP, you can be rest assured that we can integrate with them seemlessly, providing data directly to NGP from the campaign website.

Do you provide web hosting services?

We believe that you can't do everything and do it well.

Our expertise is in providing you with the most powerful tools to win an election; and we leave web hosting to other professionals.

We do have a major hosting company that we recommend, who handles ALL of the hosting needs for our clients.

I am a Republican candidate, can you design a website for me?

Sorry, but at WebPolitechs, our principles and values speak louder than greed, i.e., do anything for a buck.

Unlike 98% of the campaign site developers, we ONLY take on clients with either no party affiliation or Democrats.
